eclipse of the moon

Usually the time of the esclipse whether of the sun or the moon is considered an impure time .In this context, impure time is in regard to the performance of religous activities which is conducted usually and in this inauspicious time all such are regarded as taboo.According to Srila Prabhupada, one who is following the regulated principles of devotional service in our disciplic sucession should not neglect such rules completely but adjust in such a way that the maximum service to the Lord can be made possible in these circumstances. Before Mahaprabhu preached the doctrine of love at that time the devotees used to bathe in the Ganga at the time of eclipse according to regulation. But after the propogation of the Holy Name the holy name is considered the most important in comparison to other rituals and should chanted all the time'There is no auspicious or inauspicious time in regard to this. Those who want to aquire pious activities think greatly in terms of all the above rituals and are very rigid in observance of such rules to the letter. In contrast the devotees of the Lord think all these rules as insignificant and do not do any works in expectation of the results.
